The Poolhouse

A rammed earth structure with spaces for showering and changing. Like the hull of a boat, the zinc roof flows with the water’s movement. The ceiling is finished with Fraké Ecopanels.

With its location right by the Rhine, the water seems to merge between the river and the pool as you step into the water.

Building with earth, alongside wood, is one of the most sustainable materials. Earth is readily available everywhere and does not need to travel far to be used. Its mass makes it an excellent building material.

The bathhouse is constructed from rammed earth, essentially pulling the structure from the ground. The experience gained from this project is now being applied by the architect Studio Nauta in several other building projects.
