Collectief Soepel designed, developed and manufactured a special office center for the sustainable transport company Airhunters. The building has a unique shape, and is constructed primarily out of recycled plastic. Its location is set on the iconic pier on the grounds of IPKW. Building this office came with several technical challenges, and Collectief Soepel joined forces with Save Plastics, the HAN University of Applied Sciences and several other local companies.
Dock Office was a dynamic project: the new uses of the material called for innovative and creative methods. We worked on the project from start to finish: designing the look, researching ways to build with plastic and inventing new guidelines for a large construction made out of plastic materials. The team assumed various roles, such as architect, expert and construction workers.
The outside of Dock Office is made entirely out of recycled plastic. The building has a steel frame, which shapes the plastic material into the pronounced form. Collectief Soepel used 3D-modelling software to determine the final design. The software enabled them to use complex production techniques, such as laser cutting and CNC bending. With these techniques, the construction of Dock Office was completed in a very short time.
The office has a unique view over a riverbranch of the Rhine: it is located on a pier on the IPKW grounds. Collectief Soepel collaborated with Save Plastics and the HAN University of Applied Sciences to complete this technically challenging project.
